2020-21 Thin Air Magazine Staff
Faculty Advisor – Lawrence Lenhart’s first collection of essays is The Well-Stocked and Gilded Cage (Outpost19). His work has been published in Conjunctions, Fourth Genre, Passages North, and Prairie Schooner. Lenhart teaches fiction and creative nonfiction at Northern Arizona University and is the reviews editor of DIAGRAM.
Editor-in-Chief – Ryan Drendel is an MFA candidate at Northern Arizona University. His work can be found in Big Muddy, Scribendi, and The Rectangle.
Managing Editor – Lee Anderson is a nonbinary MFA candidate at Northern Arizona University. They have been published sporadically but with zest, in places such as Back Patio Press and Essay Daily.
Creative Director – Matt Medendorp is a writer, poet, and the current Creative Director of Thin Air Magazine. Every third thing he writes steals a lyric from John Prine. Both his published work and portfolio can be found at mattmedendorp.com.
Nonfiction editor – Stacy Clark is thrilled to join the editorial staff of Thin Air Magazine as the Nonfiction Editor. Stacy is currently pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing at Northern Arizona University, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Narratives. She teaches Creative Writing and English Composition at NAU, and is the Education Programs Assistant at The Arboretum at Flagstaff. As an environmentalist with a deep affection for stories, Stacy’s writing is deeply influenced by both landscape and community. Besides her professional and academic pursuits, Stacy enjoys skiing, mountain biking and spoiling her dog Kieko with treats and belly rubs, in that order. Kieko, Stacy and her partner Derek live in a nearly-almost-very-close-to-finished tiny house deep in the forest of Flagstaff.
Fiction Editor – Nathan Lemin reads and writes in the Creative Writing MFA at NAU. He is obsessed with liminality, entranced by the truth found in between two realities: there, here; with them, without them; what has always been, and what is forever to come. He is owned by a large lovely dog, Benny, who enjoys hiking and swimming far more than reading and writing. You can read Nathan in Minnesota’s Best Emerging Poets, Curios, Ivory Tower, and Minnesota Daily.
Poetry Editor – Cymelle Edwards is an MFA Creative Writing candidate at Northern Arizona University. She is the poetry editor for Thin Air Magazine. Her work has been published in Essay Daily, Contra Viento, Elm Leaves Journal, and elsewhere.
Web Editor – Jordan Thompson is a graduate student working on his MFA in NAU’s Creative Writing program, with an interest in making a career out of teaching and writing. He was born in California, but has spent most of his life in Mesa, Arizona. Jordan’s passions include horror books, piano, video games, and Dungeons and Dragons, all interests that he uses as fuel for his fiction. He enjoys writing short stories, poetry, and essays, and hopes to one day publish a novel.
